What is Vision Arizona?

Spiritual Vitality
Our first priority is instilling spiritual vitality in the church planting movement. Each of their meetings centers on prayer and spiritual accountability. They encourage one another to maintain a prayer support team, a vital walk with God and they support one another with challenging devotions and prayer times. They want to "finish well."

Assessment
Assessment is a second important piece in successful church starts and has led to the development of the Church Planting Assessment Center. Here, church planting candidates and their spouses spend four days with a group of assessors, determining character qualities, skills, gifts and the calling of God for effectively starting a church. Many of our new congregations span a variety of cultural groups. We want to see the Assessment Centers accommodate this diversity and is eager to learn from these cultural groups.

Further Training
Once new church planters are on the field, they benefit from further training. Training is a core value and strategy We use to strengthen each new church. Creating Dynamic Churches seminars are one popular training tool currently used throughout the country. Members of the national team work part-time with the BGC and offer their current ministry experience as part of the hands-on training.

Coaching Network
The next strategy emphasis for us is a coaching network. Many BGC districts have sent representatives to attend Coaching Quick Start training sessions led by national staff. Other districts have a coaching network on the drawing board. The aim of the coaching system is to get each new church planter linked with an experienced church planter or pastor, to develop an accountable and teachable relationship. Some districts have developed regular coaching team meetings and an excited group of future coaches. We have found that new church planters are looking for this kind of relationship and are happy when they find it in the BGC.

Develop Standards
You may have noticed that Baptists like to be independent. This is true in BGC church planting, too. We are working to develop standards and nomenclature that will be consistent across the country. This will help us share good ideas and fine-tune those we are already using in our districts. It will also improve communication. We are on the information super highway and plan to use it to speed this process.

Funding
We are also aiming to work as a funding group to give BGC church starts access to resources. We are formulating ideas and strategies to further the kingdom of God through an accountable network of relationships. Each BGC district is represented and the goal is to have each cultural group represented and empowered as well. We want to see churches stared here and across the globe, proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ as Lord.
